The Classics are races in which only the brave succeed. Thrilling one-day behemoths. Spectacles as much for what happens off the bike as on it. Passionate crowds turn up in their droves to drink beer, eat frites and devour the exciting exploits of the most daring pro cyclists. At Black Sheep we are celebrating our favourite Spring Classics with a set of special edition Euro Collection jerseys – Strade Bianchi (March 3); Tour of Flanders (April 1) and Paris-Roubaix (April 7).
The Spring Classics jersey is the ultimate mid-weight, the Euro Collection jersey is built on the 190gsm warp-knit Chronoman fabric by Sitip Spa. Chronoman creates a perfect environment of thermal protection to the cool morning wind, with evaporation channels to allow unrestricted cooling as the body heats up.
Strade Bianche earns its name from the white roads (Strade) that riders must endure to complete this early season leg tester. The gruelling gravel of Italy may be the youngest of the Spring Classics, but it's no less monumental with an exhausting one-third of the race traditionally competed on the undulating white roads of Tuscany. On a dry day, they are bone shattering. But on a wet day, as it was this year, you find men and women slipping their way to Siena at the very limit of their suffering with mud clinging to every part their bike and body. Not even a brutal cobbled finish at the Piazza del Campo brings any consolation.
