At Black Sheep Cycling, we love telling good stories. So it’s with a sense of pride that we’ve produced this particular issue of OBSESSION. We’ve grown up. Got bigger (now 24-pages). And yes, it’s all about size! But not just that. Our ambition with this quarterly newspaper, distributed exclusively with Limited Seasons or available to purchase here, has always been to tell poignant narratives which we think you’ll love reading. These are not stories that you will find in other cycling publications. We are going beyond the bike. Into the communities of the regions we tour. Into the minds of the people we feature. Typical of the Black Sheep, OBSESSION is about giving you an alternative perspective on our wonderful sport and, crucially, its amazing culture and past.
In Issue 004 of OBSESSION we make the most of our added size and go full Euro (we don’t mean dick stickers on the lakeside). But into the wild and rugged heart of the Swiss Alps. Peter Bourne and Nik Howe tell the mesmerising story of cycling in a region made famous by Sherlock Holmes and James Bond. The boys scale Grimsel, Furka and Susten passes, some of the highest paved roads in Switzerland, capturing so much more than the picture-perfect postcards we’ve come to expect.
We also pay tribute to two very different icons of our sport – Alpe d’Huez and Fabian Cancellara. And there’s much more besides.
